Africa CDC uses DHIS2 as a regional platform to capture, analyze and disseminate information about public health events reporting from formal and non-formal sources across Africa Union member states.
In Uganda, the DHIS2 platform has been used for event-based surveillance as part of the overall electronic case-based surveillance platform (eCBDS). Integration with the SMS platform 6767 allows reporting and alerts of events from the community into DHIS2, analysis, investigation and feedback to the community about the event. In Vietnam, a chatbot integrated with DHIS2 captures event-based surveillance data from private health care providers and pharmacists, feeding provincial CDC dashboards in DHIS2 for analysis. JHU's Breakthrough ACTION Project designed and disseminated a DHIS2 metadata package to combat misinformation through systematic, real-time monitoring of rumors.
