To improve data use for decision making and/or action taking, we need to look at the complete process of how, for whom and in what way the system is designed and maintained. ‘Designing for use’ is the concept used to describe the approach adopted within DHIS2.
Dr Chatterji,the Director a.i. of the Department of Data and Analytics, WHO, will open the session looking at strengthening health information systems through data use to measure impact. Prof Kristin Braa, Prof Jørn Braa, Dr Elaine Byrne and Dr Prosper Behumbiize will explore the 'Designing for Data Use' concept with examples from Uganda of putting this into practice. The session will close with a short overview by Paul Biondich a pediatrician and a community leader of the Data Use Community with a focus on point of care delivery data use.
