HISP Bangladesh
Team Leader and Secretary
Bangladesh
I have been working with information systems of Government of Bangladesh for more than 23 years in few key areas and contribute to the systems reform. For last 9 years I have been working as a Health information systems manager with proven team leading experience of several projects, including implementation of District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2) as national HMIS and as Community HMIS. Started with DHIS2 version 2.0, I and my team developed ‘National Health Data Warehouse’ based on the data from the fragmented MISs of national health programs and development partners driven projects. With the lesson learned from that project, me and my team worked under ‘GIZ’ and later under ‘HISP Bangladesh’ and make DHIS2 Bangladesh Implementation one of the largest DHIS2 implementation of the world. We progress gradually, program by program, covering almost whole Ministry of Health Area. DHIS2 trackers are now being extended to the 13,000 community clinics (up to the community) to track mother, child, and non-communicable diseases.
I worked with the Directorate General of Health Services of the Ministry of Health and Family welfare (MoHFW) of Bangladesh to strengthen routine health information systems by making systems inter-operable between the DHIS2 implementations, OpenMRS based hospital systems, Open Smart Registry Platform (OpenSRP), eTB Manager, CRVS systems and Shared Health Record (OpenHIE). MoHFW already made significant investment from last sector program into IT infrastructure and capacity development to sustain the national HMIS system.
My projects included first successful financial sector reform project which creates financial reform blue prints and started financial sector automation from budget, banking and government accounting system. I had worked with the projects funded through international donors, including GIZ, WHO, DFID, UNICEF, ADB, IFC, CDC as well as the University of Oslo and Norwegian Institute of Public Health.
